Once a month, the community comes together at the Schaapskooi after Mass. This time serves as an opportunity to reconnect with one another and extend a warm welcome to newcomers in the community. A table filled with various snacks and homemade cakes, accompanied by wine for the adults and juice for the kids, sets the scene for lively conversations and laughter. Mafalda, along with “the Buena Vitus Social Club,” coordinates and ensures the success of these monthly social hours. Contributions of sweet and savory items are always appreciated.
The highlights of the year include the Christmas party at the start of Advent and the barbecue at the end or the beginning of the school year. Thanks to the generosity of our community members, these gatherings provide a glimpse into the diverse national cuisines of our origins. To discover current event dates, please refer to the Liturgical Calendar.
The Pilgrim Queen is shared among families, offering each household the additional blessing of praying together at home with the portable shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. If you are interested in welcoming the Pilgrim Queen to your home for a week, please sign up at the church or get in touch with Elizabeth.
We maintain a modest library of religious books catering to both children and adults. Danielle ensures that you can discover engaging books, along with crayons and coloring pages for your child, located at the back of the church before and during Mass.
Annually, in December, the community gathers for a Christmas celebration featuring a dinner and various social activities such as games and a Christmas present exchange. We extend a warm invitation for you to join this festive event. Kindly register in advance. For more details, please reach out to Elizabeth at internationalcommunity@vitus.nl
